Elizabethtown Scores Three Unanswered Goals to Defeat Men's Soccer 3-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Three different Elizabethtown players scored goals to erase a 1-0 deficit and beat Gettysburg 3-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

Gettysburg (8-4-0) jumped on the board in the 14th minute when junior forward Jesse Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Christopher Dock) gave the Bullets a 1-0 lead. Senior defender Mike Tirney (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) assisted the play at 13:36. Gemberling-Johnson now has scored seven goals this season and is tied for the team lead.

Elizabethtown (7-3-2) answered with a goal at 27:30 to tie the game at 1-1. Bryan Holt tallied an unassisted strike for the Blue Jays. The score would remain knotted at 1-1 at halftime.

Nineteen minutes into the second fame, Elizabethtown broke the tie on a goal by Steve Petrosky. At 64:40, both Mike Helsel and Rick Winstanley assisted what would prove to be the game-winning goal.
The Blue Jays tacked on an insurance goal by Kevin Christie in the 79th minute.

Goalkeeper A.J. Fleisher made three saves for the victory while sophomore goalkeeper Adam Finkel (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) made three stops in defeat.

The Blue Jays outshot the Bullets 13-7 and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at home for a Centennial Conference matchup against Washington (Md.). Game time is 3:30 p.m.
